Set with a genuine silver coin in mint condition, this piece honors Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius, who reigned during the height of the Pax Romana. Dating to around 243 AD, the coin reflects a legacy of peace and prosperity.

Born in Lanuvium in 86 AD to a noble family from Gaul (Nîmes), Antoninus rose through the senatorial ranks and married Faustina the Elder. After the death of Aelius in 138, Hadrian adopted Antoninus as his successor—on the condition he would also adopt Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus.

Crowned emperor after Hadrian’s death, Antoninus worked to secure his predecessor’s deification and led a reign marked by stability, justice, and celebration—most notably Rome’s grand 900th anniversary in 148 AD.
