THE MAGIA RING

This narrative, found in “The Republic,” poses a profound question: if a rational and intelligent individual faced no consequences for their actions, would they still choose to act justly?

In the story, a shepherd named Gyges discovers the ring and, endowed with invisibility, seduces a queen, eliminates her king, and seizes the throne. This tale suggests that the Ring of Gyges—representing invisibility and anonymity—serves as the only boundary between just and unjust behavior.
